So What Now?

The long awaited ruling the the case about the Phoenix Coyotes came down today from Judge Redfield T. Baum, now the long national nightmare is over and we finally know who officially owns the Coyotes.
Wait, whats that? We don’t know? What the hell do you mean that the judge rejected both offers?!?
That was the ruling made earlier today by the judge, that neither offer was good enough. Jim Balsillie’s offer of truck loads of money to everyone involved in the organization was rejected because he was going to move the team to Hamilton. The NHL’s bid was rejected because they couldn’t explain how they were exactly going to pay off all of the creditors of the team.
What this leaves us with now is a quagmire of a hockey franchise. Although the team knows that they are going to remain in Phoenix for 2009-10 season at the very least but is still very much up in the air about it’s future. Now the bidding process to buy the team starts all over again, now finding new people who would like to own their very own slightly used hockey team. The other, and far less likely option, is that the team will just fold and the NHL will be one team lighter. Either way how this whole situation has been handled has been pure lunaicy and childish, there has been bickering and posturing and nothing actually getting done.
Both Balsillie and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman have just been having a spat of I’m better than you for years now. But until now no franchises have really been harmed in the wake of their spat, however it is now debatable how much longer the Coyotes can stay afloat.
No Sir Fan’s own Justin Karp explained the Coyotes situation the best saying, “They’re the Expos, offically”.
The Coyotes season begins on Saturday October, 3rd in Los Angles.
